For New Yorkers, it appears on fancy menus and in popular magazines with recipes for clipping. A seasonal food fad typical of a fashion city. The ramp becomes the IT ingredient for a few weeks. It explodes onto the scene, rises to the top as though we've never seen it before and then POOF! It's gone, and all we have to show for it is bad breath.
I used ramps for the first time this spring. Gather them up when you can.
